The Challenge
Bringing a new employee into a school division involves more
than just hiring them. From the moment a principal identifies a
staffing need, a chain of tasks must flow through HR and
eventually land with the technology team to ensure the new hire
has everything they need on day one: network accounts, system
access, shared resources, distribution list memberships, and a
provisioned computer.
Without a coordinated system, this process relied on manual
communication, creating delays, missed steps, and no clear
visibility into where a request stood at any given time.
The Solution
I designed and built a centralized internal recruitment
management system from the ground up, taking full ownership from
business requirements through to production deployment as a
full-stack developer.
The workflow begins with a principal submitting a recruitment
request through an easy-to-use form. HR receives an automated
email with instructions to post the position. Once a candidate
is selected, HR enters the new employee's name, ID, and other
key details directly into the system, which automatically
generates a technology ticket to initiate onboarding.
That ticket triggers the technology team to create accounts
across multiple systems, provision a computer, set up access to
shared resources, and add the new hire to the appropriate
distribution lists.
The Result
What was once a fragmented, manual process spanning multiple
teams is now a structured, trackable workflow with clear
handoffs at every stage, ensuring nothing falls through the
cracks and new employees are ready to work from day one.
